Shopping in Tulsa…Utica Square

Utica Square…it had been 15 years or so, the last time I shopped Utica square in Tulsa Oklahoma.  Me and the hubby shopped and ate lunch while enjoying the sites in Utica Square.

Utica has been around a long time…Many years ago one of the hair stylist I worked with moved to Tulsa he went to work in the salon inside a store called Miss Jacksons.  I drove up 2 times to get my haircut by him and shopped around in Utica Square.

Old school telephone booths surround the square…

Always need to check out Anthropoligie…Kev says this is his favorite store because he can relax on the comfy couches….This Anthro was cool, but I was disappointed they didn’t carry shoes at this location…I still managed to find a really cool pair of citrus lime color skinny jeans!

The shopping is set in a park like atmosphere great for strolling and a nice lunch on the patio at one of the many restaurants.

We had lunch at the Wild Fork.  We ate inside with a view to outdoors, it was very nice.  We shopped at an original Russell Stover’s candy shop were I stocked up on some of my favorites…dark chocolate roman nuggets loved them since I was a kid and I would get a box of chocolates and keep taking bites out of different ones till I found my Roman nuggets!  hee hee… come on, you know you have done that too, take a bite and try the next…

Garden Guests of the Lizard Variety….

This cute Anole was putting on quite the show in the garden yesterday…

From the rock to the leaves he thought he was going to lose me…

On to this wood post wishing he could only turn brown and blend in…keeping an eye on me as you can see!

No need to get all puffy little guy…

He’s thinking surely this move will scare her away !

Totally giving me the major stink eye!

Really???  I can’t get rid of this lady…

Okay little guy…thanks for the photos!

In another area of the garden this lil lizard was definitely in blend mode. Well that’s my garden critter blog for today…

The Flutter Of The Butterfly…Enjoy the show!

Everything is in full bloom… along with that comes all our nasty allergies…but when I look at this flowering snowball like fluff in my backyard and the smell is like honeysuckle…I may sneeze, but I am amazed and I have to smile all at the same time!

I took a little time today to smell the sweet scent of this flowering tree…it was nature at work buzzing bees and several types and sizes of butterflies fluttering everywhere!

so pretty…

I just could not stop snapping photos…

I think this butterfly posed for this shot…

Vibrant orange wings against the flowering tree…

This little beauty is blending in with the stone and leaves…

I couldn’t get a good still shot of this flutterer…but it was black with long tails so gorgeous!  And then of course there’s the one that got away…a huge Monarch but all the little butterflies were chasing him all around literally running him out of their sweet smelling territory!  Well this tree will hold it’s flowers for a couple more weeks before they all drop into my pool and make a big fat mess hee hee…In the meantime stay tuned for more nature shots…I took several today of the cutest lizards but that’s on the next post!  Well between the watery eyes and hay fever sniffles I hope these photos bring a smile to your face like they did for me!

Garden Love….

I have had this copper dragonfly for years…and I still love the beauty and fun it brings to my garden…

Another dragonfly decoration that has weathered many a storm, Texas heat and snow!  Rusted peeling and there it sits under a little tree…I have a thing for worn treasures!

You don’t see me…said this little gecko trying hard to blend.  Hey little buddy eat those bugs in my garden!

I was in full clean out the garden bed mode trim this cut down that rake this…when I noticed yellow petals on the ground!  I looked up to a beautiful sweet smelling surprise…my yellow roses were in full bloom and they smell like a rose perfume my mama used to wear!  I had to stop in my tracks a literally Smell the Roses!  And go grab my camera of course!  Now I ask you, is this a beautiful rose or what??

This one is fully open …I wish you could smell the fragrant petals!

I love how you can see a blur of the red striped roses in the background, but this photo is all about this yellow cream rose bud….

Is she lovely or what? …a rose like no other….

Trellis background , but the focus is on the rose in case you were wondering…

It will soon be time to fill this blown glass hummer feeder…

I was out grilling up dinner when I noticed two little tomatoes!  My first in our new garden exciting!

All that beauty outside made me want to have some indoor color!  So when I stopped to do the grocery shopping.  I came upon some great sales on the fresh flowers at Kroger, so I bought some berries, mini hydrangea, rounded mini carnations and cream and yellow roses…I came home found a vase and put my arrangement together…and as you can see Welby said, fresh flowers you shouldn’t have!

They look and smell great…check out Kroger for their sale flower bunches and bring some color home!  Well hope you had a fun tour of my roses….stay tuned to see how the garden grows we will be dealing with Texas storms and the April showers of Texas with the soon to follow heat waves….

Raised Bed Garden Kit…Get To Planting!

We decided to put in a raised bed garden this year.  One of my friends told me about a local place were they sell kits…so we started with the 12ft by 4 ft garden .  We were shocked when we saw all the organic soil, manure, shale and minerals that came with the kit!

Here are the bags of organic soil mixture…

Our dirt diet and moo poo….

And the shale…we lined the bottom of the garden with newspaper then layered and blended all the different dirts and shale…

The first tomato plant goes in…

Then more tomato plants 4 varieties, squash, okra, basil, fresno peppers, parsley and 1 other herb which I can’t remember and I’m too tired to go see what it is!   But stay tuned for garden progress!

In the meantime I took photos of some of my roses in bloom…

Blooms and buds this rose bush is filled with Knockout Roses so pretty!

Dining In Fort Worth Texas..

Recently we dined in Fort Worth…We had seen this place on a recent trip so we came back to check it out.  Taco Stand is on Magnolia street in Fort Worth and worth checking out!

The decor in the restaurant is very nice… there is also a big street side outdoor area if you want to soak up the sun on the patio.

I ordered the veggie combo platter this was soooo good, the chilpotle mashed potatoes were awesome!  It came with grilled veggies a yummy dipping sauce, a cucumber relish salad, fried plantains and black beans and rice.  I also tried the corn and tomato soup…The dinner was served with chips and salsa.

I’m all about food presentation and Taco Stand gets an A….Great looking and great tasting food… we kept seeing platters of nachos being served so we want to try those next time!

My hubby tried 3 different types of tacos and he said each one was delish!  This one was the shrimp I tried a bite Yummo……

For the sweet tooth in you, try the fried cheesecake this looked so great but since I try not to eat gluten I didn’t try it…but Kev said it was wonderful!
